-High School Memory: "Weeee will, weeee will HAWK YOU!!" (yes, my high school's mascot was a hawk -- and yes, this cheer is a whole lot funnier in real life)-

Seems like whenever I dream of puppies, they're always super-tiny. Like the one I dreamed of last night was a pink pug puppy that slept in a box that could've been a repurposed jewelry box.

Here's your (short) thought to ponder for the day: Why is it, that for most pocket calculators that have no "off" button (but turn off on a timer), you can make them turn off by pressing ON/C, [multiplication sign], and [division sign] all at the same time?

I'll wait here while you go try it.

Okay, now that you're back, tell me why that is...

Remember to reality check.

  1. My question is, why do many (maybe most - i am only a casual user)simple pocket solar calculators, that don't have an internal battery, have an 'on' button anyway? My use of the 'on' button has always been driven by the need to clear. I can press any button to activate.
Not being particularly mathematical minded, I have to ask what formula you use to generate your topic/post titles? If not mathematical, there must surely be some sore of rhythm or logical process. qa aad7t certainly sounds nice phonetically. :-)

  2. That observation about calculators does make sense.

And there is indeed a method to my madness as far as the titles go. But it is definitely more confusing (not to mention silly) than your hypotheses! As it turns out, I'm actually fairly fluent in a VERY OBSCURE artificial language called Cooan. The titles are in that language. You can learn it by the link on the right (under "s qa", which means, roughly, "reach for other locations") that says "qa," (roughly, "the hand language").

    It's also very pretty spoken.

Try to keep it family-friendly.
Otherwise, poetry, random exclamations, and opinionated diatribe all welcome.
